Hospital Entrance

The hospital entrance on the south side of the building is temporarily inaccessible.  Please use the emergency room entrance until further notice.

Interior demolition has started.

A poly barrier used to contain the construction has been installed.  Demolition is set to begin in the interior for the new emergency room.

Walls are starting....

Concrete block and scaffolding are being erected for the exterior wall of the new Emergency Center.

The helipad has been painted.

Tomorrow the intention is to pour a concrete walkway from the helipad to the current ER and on Saturday the intent is to paint the helipad.  Hopefully by the end of next week, we may be able to resume the use of the new helipad on site at the hospital.

Due to the rain, the pouring of the footings will occur possibly Friday otherwise next week.

The concrete pouring of the footings is expected to take place the week of July 23rd and the pouring of the new helipad the week of August 6th.

Beginning to dig!  The Storm sewer connections are the first thing to begin.  I'm just glad we didn't have open holes when all that rain came!  By the end of this week, the demolition of the current helipad should begin.  As an alternative for emergency helicopter transport, the Lifelink helicopter service will be landing at the Cook Airport and the Cook Ambulance service will be transporting both the flight crews and patients as necessary between the hospital and the airport.

This process should be in place for about 1 1/2 months.  Then back to the Cook hospital.  We want to thank Representative Cravaack for his help in moving the process along to get FAA recommendations allowing us to start.

The storm structures are now approved and ordered and will be delivered Thursday 6/21/12. Schedule as follows,

Mesabi will be starting storm work on 5th Street  just south of the church. Working north they will be at the hospital drive  Friday 6/22/12  - Monday 6/25/12. Working east along the hospital drive to the connection south of the helipad. This portion should finish by Monday 6/25/12.

Helipad demo will start Tuesday 6/26/12 - Wednesday 6/27/12. Followed by 2 more days of storm work  Thursday 6/28/12 and Friday 6/29/12.

Addition excavation  Monday 7/2/12-Tuesday 7/3/12.

Schedule could change with weather conditions and unforeseen soil conditions.

Construction to start

After delays, contruction is set to begin Monday, June 18th.
